Back in the world tour, Earls Court London, April 19th 2003

Wow, 45 pounds for a seat 50 meters away from Paul These are all clickable images

    London town

Paul spent the night in his Cavendish Av. home in London, a handful of fans were being kept away from his house. Behind Pauls house is a cricket ground, it's possible he went there during lunch time. The concert started a little bit later due to a temporarily closing of the Earls court subway station following a strike. The security at the entrance was a joke, e.g. they didn't even do a body search on me. I don't think these security people would find a rocket launcher, let alone my Canon 135N (that's a photo camera). On the other hand, once inside the security guys did their job extremely enthousiastically. In fact there were so much of them that they could easily guard any POW camp and on top of that their interpretation of law inforcement was VERY strict.

Luckily the crowd on saturday was more enthousiastic than the one on friday (same observation as in Antwerp... weird...). Paul thanked the audience for the warm welcome and told us it's always good to take the show back home after taking it around the world. When the accoustic set began, he told the audience as usual "this is the time they leave me alone with you" but this time he also added jokingly "i'm not affraid... as you are" (laughter) Just before "You Never Give Me Your Money / Carry That Weight" Paul said "Oh, look what they brought here on stage, let's see what it is". When someone up front shouted 'it's a piano', Paul pointed at him, pretended to be amazed and said 'Hey, yeah, you're right: It's a piano !!!!" (laughter)

The intro for band on the run was only heard on the tape which is played before the concert i think, being a slow (Keltish style) version of the refrain without guitars or drumming, only synthesizers. After this intro, the song started normal (a bit bizarre immho).

Wix said it was kinda special playing for all his family (he said he lives in London) and he said his biggest fan in the audience was his daughter (5 or 6 years old, I can't remember).

Maybe I'm amazed made it back into the setlist, Paul said he wrote it for Linda but added 'tonight it's for all the lovers". After the song he said "Thank you lovers".

BOOOOM !!!
    During Live & Let Die

After Hey Jude i went from my £45 seat in the tiers to the central arena, to see the last songs in about 20th row. Quite a difference ! After the concert we waited another 30 minutes outside at the gates for Paul to come out but apparerently he talked longer to the press then foreseen. It was a bit too cold to wait any longer outside and so we went back to the hotel.

When I arrived back in Belgium the day after I found my new VW Passat with it's window smashed, while my blaupunkt radio-CD, electronic airconditioning, phone car kit and several CD's were stolen. The bastards can't use the radio-CD anyway, I got the card and papers and I hope they get a headache while listening to the following CD's they stole:

The John Lennon collection (4 CD box, without Yoko doing her usual things!)
The Paul McCartney collection (rare promo, bummer)
ABBA Gold
France Gall Greatest hits
Adriano Celentano Cuore d'amore
Marco Borsato Onderweg (2 CD)

Nice promo !!!
I wouldn't mind having one of these in my garden... well... later maybe
I guess this must be a pretty unique set of posters...

This concert of the 'Back in the world tour' was well worth all the effort and I hope to see you all on one of the coming events,
