Back in the world tour, Kolnarena, April 27th 2003
this seat was a zillion lightyears away from Paul, I don't understand the marketing guys got the nerve to sell these at almost 100 euro's

    Gutenabond Köln !!!

Wow, what a brilliant show again! After going to Holland it was a pleasure to be in Germany: people may not be as hotblooded as in some other parts of the world but boy they are oh so well mannered and disciplined. Fellow Macca-lister Ute is one of those nice people: she bought mine and Kate's ticket (Thanks Ute for the ticket, driving directions and the beer). We met in the afternoon to see Paul arrive at the Kolnarena. He arrived in a convoy with a Volkswagen Phaeton and two stretched gold Merc's. Our man was on the phone but still waved to the waiting fans (John Hammel was also in the car).

The doors opened at 6 pm and although security was tighter than usual with handheld metal detectors and bodysearch. Although security found 3 films in my bag they didn't search nor find my Canon 135 (in stead they focussed on a plastic bottle of water in my bag which seemed to parralize them). After checking out our seats (+90 euro seats, but still somewhere waaay in the back), we tried to find a place closer to the stage. After a short period of confusion, I ended up in second row, between Paul and Brian.

Paul said he learnt some German at school, and told a little rhime which I didn't understand but loudly cheered by the crowd. The setlist was the same as in Holland (inclunding the new BOTR version). Highlights for me were again 'Maybe I'm amazed' (not an easy song to sing) and 'Here today' (complete silence in the audience, and first time i got the shivers during the live performance of this song). He mixed up a bit of Lady Madonna as he went into 'Wednesday night etc' and the band went into 'Papapapa' (don't think many people heard this anway haha).

I left the building at 23:05pm, drove onto the highway at 23:15pm and I was home in Leuven one and a half our later. Living in Belgium is easy: *everything* is close !
